FFXII and mail call.

Picked up FFXII from the store just a little while ago. Haven't played it yet, and probably won't for a while, as I've still got Tales of the Abyss to play through (man, I am SO way behind on that... ^^;;), so you won't hear me praising/bitching about it like every other gamer is probably doing right now. ^^;

Anyway, in other news: [livejournal.com profile] shinkuu, you've got snail mail headed your way! Just thought I'd give you the heads up. :D

I started that just yesterday, and I'm going off to play more in just a few minutes. I R teh priority-setting queen.

It's ridiculously pretty, and boy, the prologue/tutorial doesn't screw around.

"Doesn't screw around?" What, does it throw you in the game's storyline straight away or something? Or do you mean the mechanics of it?

How are you liking it thus far in terms of gameplay, anyway? I understand that this game's pretty different from the previous Final Fantasies, with the Gambit system and all.

From what I've seen of the combat system (both from the E3 2004 demo and my roommate playing last night), the combat is highly reminiscent of FFXI.

It seems like it works, though!

Well, I was referring to the opening movie scenes, really. It's all very dramatic.

But the battle mechanics are okay. At first I thought it would be a pain in the ass to have to do ATB and free-range at the same time, but as long as you don't do something ridiculously stupid like draw one attacking monster into a pack of attacking monsters, it's not that bad.

I watched my roommate play the first half hour or so last night.

I came.

Yay, mail! I'll be looking forward to it!
