YES! A new Mother (Earthbound) game was announced!

Granted, there's nothing on that page yet save for a release date of sometime in 2006, but the fact that Nintendo hasn't forgotten about this series after all makes me happy. Now, to hope and pray for a North American release...

Also, less than one day for the release of Wild Arms: Alter Code F, meaning less than two days' wait for me. All I can say is: IT'S ABOUT DAMN TIME! *has been waiting since the BEGINNING OF THE YEAR for it* @_@

OH! YAY! That's great news! Guess I'll have to rent a nintendo or something. Heh.

From the looks of the site, it seems to be for the Game Boy Advance. I don't think they rent those. :/ I could always loan/trade/sell you one of mine, though! ^_^ *has two (an original model which I don't use anymore and the more compact, newer model), plus a DS* That is, assuming they actually make a North American release for the game. ^^;

I have it preordered too, it's just that game releases here are usually delayed by a day. Foo. :P

Wednesday can't come soon enough, I tell ya! Must have... game! *_*

I can't get Alter Code F tomorrow because I'm getting a different game :( But I'll be sure to get it eventually.

Oh, as for Mother 3, I remember reading about it in 2003 or 2004. I forget when. But, I remember they were going to release Mother 1&2 in a combo pack for GBA, and then Mother 3 was coming out later.

Oh yeah, I remember that (the Mother 1&2 combo pack). Did they ever release that, by any chance?

Apparently it indeed was released in Japan. I don't see a release date for North America, though.

Aw, that stinks! I for one, would've LOVED it if the rerelease had made it here. Plus it gives less chances of Mother 3 coming out here. Sad. :(

I didn't know you have a DS! What games do you have for it? Are you planning to get Mario Kart? I feel bad I haven't kept in touch better with everyone...

Heya Shroomy! *hug* Glad you enjoyed your business trip! ^^

Right now, I only have Lunar DS and Castlevania: Dawn of Sorrow. I'm also thinking of getting that Phoenix Wright game. I don't think I'll be getting Mario Kart DS, though, because I don't think there's any wi-fi "hot spots" around here, and thus I'd be stuck playing it alone. :/

Aw, that's too bad... But if you have a Starbucks or McDonald's nearby, you may just have a hotspot! Actually, I don't know if Starbucks hotspots are compatible (last I recall, T-Mobile charged you to use them, which would be my only concern), but they're trying to fit more and more McD's with Nintendo hotspots.

Of course, if you have a neighbor with an unsecured network... Cha-ching!

But yeah! How're you liking those games? I haven't tried Lunar, but I've been really loving Dawn of Sorrow. What color DS did you get?

There's only like, 4 Starbucks in the whole island. And while I have at least one McDonald's close enough, I doubt they have a hotspot yet. I mean, this is a pretty new thing, so it takes a while before they bring it over here. (You have no idea how long it was before they brought cable and DSL to the island, really.)

Anyway, Lunar is so-so, but Dawn of Sorrow is pretty good. I'm not very far into either, though. And my DS is blue, since it was the only color they had in the store that day, heh.

Aw, that's too bad. But you know, they have these little wireless network detectors that you can use to prowl around and see if there are unsecured networks in the area! Any non-protected network should do!

I've had a lot of fun with Dawn of Sorrow! I beat it once with the "bad" ending, so now I have to try going through it a bit more. I think it's also the hardest 2D Castlevania since Symphony of the Night?

Date: 2005-11-16 09:00 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] aruru.livejournal.com
Ah, I see. Well, I still doubt there's any wireless networks close to where I live. Like I said, cable and DSL are still fairly recent things around these parts, so I have no clue about wireless. :(

Yeah, I can believe it's the hardest Castlevania since Symphony of the Night, actually. There's some pretty strong monsters even early on in the game, and that boss with the big head and the laser eyes killed me the first time I tried fighting him, heh.

Oh yeah, and have you tried playing Dawn of Sorrow with the Aria of Sorrow cartridge inserted in the GBA slot? I remember reading somewhere that doing that was supposed to give you some kind of bonus or something, I'm not sure what.

Oh yeah, Balore or something? He killed me pretty quickly! I even had a little trouble with the first boss, the flying armor... I wasn't happen with how many healing items I used so I reset and tried again. Well, I know I did that with some bosses, but I forget which ones... But man, there's this one crazy hard monster later...

I remember sucking bad fighting one of the first bosses in Symphony of the Night. The wolf, I think? And then I would watch the "how to beat the boss" video and think, "Geez, I was dumb."

And yeah! I had Aria of Sorrow plugged in when I started Dawn of Sorrow, and I got a Rare Ring. I usually never take it off, and it felt like it helped me get some extra item drops near the start. Didn't seem to be a BIG help collecting souls, and you can get one later anyway, but it was still kinda cool!

It's too bad about the wireless situation... Do you guys have broadband or dial-up? Even if you don't have wireless at home, if you have DSL or cable you can just get the Nintendo wireless adapter to enable Internet play with your DS.

Date: 2005-11-16 10:37 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] aruru.livejournal.com
Aw, I was hoping you got a better bonus than that. Oh well. Also: is it just me, or is collecting souls a little harder this time around? I didn't get many soul drops as far as I got. :/

I'm still stuck on dialup, here. But thanks for letting me know about the wireless adapter - if I ever get DSL/cable and have a game I'm interested in playing with others, I'll be sure to remember that. ^_^;

Yeah, I guess they had to have a bonus that was neat, but not something that impacts the game that much more than playing without it. As for the soul collecting, I'm not really sure! I mean, I'll get my share of souls, with a sort of equal distribution between 1-star and 3-star souls, but when I have trouble with a boss and look up strategies for it, they always mention souls I don't have, no matter how easy they are to get.

And I'll be missing souls for monsters that are 1-star, which should be the easiest to get, no matter how much I try or how high my luck is. I went through the entire game wearing the Rare Ring and, eventually, the "Three 7's" shirt. It's really weird! I guess the bottom line is, I get a lot of souls, but I never seem to get the ones I want. I have a million Zombie souls, though.

Aw, I wish I could get your DSL for Christmas or something... It would be cool if we all could play together! I think that, for now at least, the wireless adapter is only sold through Nintendo's web site.

That's okay. I had a feeling it was you. ^^

I might have to try that Rare Ring thing sometime, see if I actually have better luck getting souls that way.
