So, thanks to l_dude, I got to see the opening for the WA remake. I can't say I like it more or less than the original version, as both as pretty spifferoonies in their own way, but the new one has Jack fighting Harken and Rudy fighting Zed, WAI! <3 it is SHINY and therefore it brings joy.

Gametrailers.com Is also pretty shiny. Not only did I watch the FFXII trailer irksnapple linked to in a recent entry, but it's also got the TV commercials for a number of games, so I was FINALLY able to see the FFTA commercial shinkuu and arcian would joke about. Man, is that thing ever a throwback to the cheesy old late 80's/early 90's commecials, haha! XD


Oh, btw, I updated the project LJ earlier, for those of you who're friended on it. No big deal this time, though - just a few notes.


Anyway, let's play a game - I answer one meme, then I present you guys with one of those memes where it's the reader that has to answer. ^_^

So, today's meme for me (ganked from sarahtheboring):

My journal is called _____ because _____.

Uh, I only recently gave it a title, and it's simply "Aurora Derall @ LJ." Because that's what it essentially IS - me at LJ. When you can't be creative and/or psychobabbly and pseudosymbolic, go straight to the point! :D


My subtitle is _____ because _____.

"Random blabbing from the Castor-Mami." The random blabbing is self-explanatory. The "Castor-Mami" bit is all rikoshi's fault, and understandable to only a few - there was one time on AIM chat where some of my pals and I asked him what he imagined our furry avatars would be, and I was a beaver . Then, in a more recent chat, he and I were poking fun at Spanish pet names for loved ones, and I got to be "Castor-Mami": "Castor" is "beaver" in Spanish (It's actually the male form of "beaver," but it sounded better than "castora" for the joke.). And "mami" there isn't meant as "mother" (which is the correct use of the word), but as slang equating to the English "babe."

(IIRC, I think I named rikoshi "El Zorro Papichulo," for the record.)

I haven't renamed my Friends page yet. Maybe I'll be pretentious and English Lit.-referential and write "Some of the actors on LJ's stage" or something.


And, just for the hell of it: My username is ____ because _____.

"Aruru." IIRC, because potega once had the urge to start calling me that instead of "Aurora" a few years back, and it stuck. shoiryu tends to shorten it to "Aru," too. ^^

a. I still think that Rora x Irk is the OTP, here. Theoretically, it's femslash, but I choose this for (A) mainly because I can see the rabid shippers going apeshit over it, especially for pairing wars against the Tiffers x Irk folks.

b. I'd go with Arcy x Rora, here, because of two reasons. First, it's cross-culturalism at its finest, which makes ANY slash store more believable, and second, two people can only talk about lesbianism so much without it being Freudian!

c. Canon-Sueism is reserved for Shinkuu, I think.

d. You'll jump the shark when you and Gaav run off together into the sunset to form an OT3 with Jack van Burace.

e. "When Aurora learns that Irk has been cutting herself while listening to Evanescence, she decides that something has to be done. But meanwhile, Shinkuu, Tiffers, and Draco Malfoy plot in the shadows..."

This meme is fun!

a. Either with Mongy or Shinkuu, because they are the opposite sex, and you are friends, so according to fandom logic, you MUST be meant to be. Also, there will be an OT3 following of Rora x Mongy x Shinkuu (and combinations thereof).

b. I could totally see the slashers going all Piper x Rora, so she can school you in the ways of canon gay. Either that, or Rora x Irk or Rora x Tiff, so they can have the fun of slash plus the angst of a relationship torn apart. Though it would always be Tiff or Irk who is to blame for the breakup, and never you, also because of fandom logic.

c. I agree that shinkuu would so be the Canon Sue. As for the run of the mill Mary Sue, she should be the world's foremost authority on yaoi doujinshi, the best at snark, and also queen of the Gaav/Val fandom.

d. You'll jump the shark when Gaav finds out that you're a member of the Shoi fanclub, feels neglected, and starts a Hair Metal band in an attempt to win you back.

e. "When Rora leaves home to fulfill her dream of starring in an informercial alongside David Moo, how will her friends react to the news? Will she become a famous informercial star, or...?"

Yeah, I think the animation is great. I like the original opening, but it's too confusing and has little to do with the actual game itself. Pretty visuals, but in the end it's useless.

But the new animation is amazing. It throws the balloon in there to signify the moment when the trio joins forces. It shows Cecilia cut her hair. (In the original, it was so confusing to see Cecilia, with long hair and her princess dress, being picked up by the Earth Golem.) I like how it shows her second outfit in the animation.
I like that they show Hanpan with his actual design, instead of being a generic mouse. And the magic effects with Cecilia. And even the other major characters in the game. Emma has artwork! XD (She never did have any artwork released at all from the original Wild Arms.)

All in all, I love the animation more than the original. It's just spiffier. And it relates more to the plot of the game, along with the character design.

It was a pain to grab the screenshots for my icons, though. Quicktime has no frame-advance function. And I don't know of any program that can run Quicktime video, that can do that. So I had to go back and forth till I got a good shot. But it was worth it ^_^
