Got a second package from The Right Stuf yesterday (Wednesday) in the afternoon, and it turned out to be the DVD set for Slayers Try. Wow, that backorder was sure filled FAST! Now all I'm missing is the Next set, and I should have everything I ordered from them. :D

I started re-watching the original series back on Tuesday. It's rather amusing how I still remember where to expect the punchlines to take place, and what the general comments are, despite the fact that it's been quite a few years since I last watched the whole series. It's also nice to see that even though now quite a few of the gags can't make me fall over in a fit of giggles (since I know what to expect and all) like they did the first time around, they still can make me crack a wide grin at them. ^_^

It's also amusing to notice that Lina doesn't seem to smack Gourry around as much as she does later in the series. Maybe she hits people more when she considers them very close to her? *snickers* XD

Anyway, in other news, the first volume of the Petshop of Horrors manga hit the streets a few days back. I'm so happy - I already had the series in Japanese because the art was so prittyPRITTY, and I managed to figure out a fair deal from both summaries online and the context of the images, but it's GREAT to finally be able to see this in a language I can actually READ!

And already in volume 1, Leon makes some remark about how he's "falling for his [Count D's] charm." *GRIN* Even though it's meant in relation with how easily he lets D weasel out of giving him a straight answer about anything, I think it's rather obvious what kind of tone Matsuri Akino was setting from the start. ;)

Oh, and D drinks his tea with way too much sugar in it, as if his regular addiction to candies and other sweets wasn't bad enough. *LOL* Luckily for him that he doesn't seem to need to worry about stuff like triglycerides and getting fat. XD

Anyway, it's off to a nice start, so if anyone's interested in checking it out, I'd recommend it. ^^

Also, while I was looking at the Tokyopop site: WHEEEEEEEEEEE!!! I suspected it'd be eventually picked up (if only to "complete" the series/franchise), but I didn't know someone did it so soon!

Man, between that, the Hellsing and Trigun mangas having been announced to be released at the end of the year, and keeping up with GTO, PSoH and all the series I like in the English edition of Shonen Jump, I think I'm all manga'ed out. *overwhelmed* @_@

Yay! Pet Shop of Horrors! I have the first volume too. Yes, the artwork also drew me to it. Darn Pet Shop of Horrors pet quiz sucking me in! Darn you quiz! *Shakes fist*

Anyway, _gotta_ love a series that kicks off the first page with a Gremlins ref. ^_^

Yeah. I got drawn in thanks to the 4-episode OVA that collects 4 of the stories (Two of which are "Despair" and "Daughter," which are there in the first volume.) and loving the art there, so when I found out that there was a manga, I was all like "YAY!"

The manga's more cutesy and lighthearted than the anime (which focuses more on creating atmosphere than anything else), but I actually rather like that. It's kind of amusing to have blood and gore on one page and D getting gooey-eyed over sweets a few pages later. *LOL* And wait until Leon starts getting a more prominent role, hee! >D

Trigun and Hellsing are being picked up for translation? WOOHOO! Hot damn, I need to save up some money! ENGLISH MANGA SPREE~

And yeah, I noticed that too about Lina and Gourry... maybe it's because it's based more on the novels. Or maybe I'm just flailing around looking for an explanation. Heck, maybe Lina's really a dom. You never know.

They were both picked up by Dark Horse, if I'm not mistaken. Anyway, it was [livejournal.com profile] arcian who showed me the link to the news article that said this. I'd have to dig it up again if you want it, though.

They're translating Petshop of Horrors? Sweet deal! I'm too poor to go out and buy it again (I own the ten of the original manga) but it's still nice to know they've up and done it.

-red, sneaking about and stalking ya while on break. Sorry I've disappeared--between work and VK being home, I'm never really alone! ;_;
