A pleasant pheasant?
Nov. 18th, 2002 09:56 pmWell, earlier today I had a crazy dream. Unfortunately I can't remember too many details, but what struck out was the following:
Apparently I was reading the beginning of one of Lewis Caroll's Alice novels (I'm not sure whether it was Alice in Wonderland or Through the Looking Glass, though. It was probably the former.), except like half of the story was presented visually, and the other half was text (kinda like one of those "text adventure" videogames, except the scenes were [mostly] animated), and the beginning was totally different. Amongst other things I cannot recall, there was the fact that she was having a matress delivered to her house. So, the delivery guy rang, and Alice went and opened what looked to me like a closet door rather than a "service" entry. The dude, from what little I can recall, was apparently fairly handsome, with the sort of build you wouldn't think strong enough to be hefting a bigass queen-sized (HURR HURR GET IT???) mattress around by himself.
Anyway, Alice then speaks with him at the doorway a little, and here's where the really weird part comes in: The story shifts back to being told in text, and after Alice says something I can't recall to the delivery man, the guy goes on to give her - and I quote what the dream text said - "one of his rare pheasant smiles."
I shit you not: a "rare pheasant smile." And according to what I recall of the dream, THAT WAS NOT A TYPO IN THE STORY.
What. The. HELL?
You can guess I woke up little after that (Though it was too goddamn early, so I went right back to sleep a few minutes later. The dream did not resume, though.). I guess my brain just couldn't handle the amount of thought process required to accurately imagine someone smiling like a pheasant, so it cut the whole thing short.
Anyway, if there's any people who dabble in dream interpretation who're feeling like taking a crack at this one, feel free to post. I sure as hell can't even begin to guess.
