Ow ow ow ow ow dammit.....
Nov. 21st, 2002 08:41 amPointless entry, but: Somehow, while eating breakfast today, I managed to get a freakin' CRACKER CRUMB in my eye. As mildly annoying as it was, I'm also kind of amused and wondering how the hell I managed to pull off a feat like this.
And if you're about to ask "What does it feel like?", well... it's kind of like getting a REALLY BIG EYELASH in it. I think that explains the annoyance part.
Also, just a few minutes ago on AIM,
arcian brought to me a depressing realization:
The Dawnswalker: Speaking of cons... upon looking at cosplay pics last night/this morning in a fit of self loathing, I've decided that Working Designs has doomed us all.
Basically, by giving out that replica of Lucia's pendant with the Lunar 2 game, they've ensured that we will be doomed to see millions of ineptly cosplayed Hiros and Lucias until the end of time.
Kyokukou: BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH!
Kyokukou: Funny, but sadly... true.
Kyokukou: *CRIES*
The Dawnswalker: They may or may not come with Butterbeast Lemina.
Kyokukou: AUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUGH!!!!!!!
But not to worry, fellow friends! Like Amelia says, life is still wonderful! And why do I say that? Because I found this picture while browsing through Kazuhiko-san's doujinshi shop (sadly, the book it's from has been bought - too bad, I would've loved it just for that one pic *_*), and we all know that a centerfold!big beefy guy can brighten anyone's day, even if just a little.
Well, almost anyone. Hee.

Date: 2002-11-23 05:08 am (UTC)This, of course, wound up leading to a hankering for Suiko music. The funny part is that it's not my fave of all faves - I mean, when I think of the words "greatest RPG muzak EVAR," the first person I think of is Michiko Naruke, and her compositions for the Wild Arms series. It's still among top faves though because it's got some really good choice tracks (the end theme of the original game always makes me sad *_*), plus I really needed a break from just switching between the WA3 playlist and the Kingdom Hearts one, which was ALL I was doing last month. So I went on a mp3
rampagehunt. ^_^;Anyway, all I have here that I can pass judgement on is the original Suikoden's soundtrack (which is a 2-disc set), which I bought some years ago and would recommend; the "Orrizonte" soundtrack (a cd of arranged versions of the Suiko2 town themes), which is alright enough if you've got the extra money to blow but I wouldn't go out on a limb to call it great either (plenty of other people seem to like it a lot, though); and am also currently working on downloading the Suiko2 soundtrack, which is 2 sets of 2 discs each (there used to be a limited box set of all 4 as well, but that sold out quickly). There's a lot of old tunes of the Suiko1 soundtrack in 2 that're redone among with the new stuff (though I would still recommend the Suiko1 soundtrack for some choice tracks that aren't in there, like the theme for Antei, the original game's opening theme [which you'll hear in many different versions in 2, btw], and the ending theme for the first game), which is kinda neat, and while I do find myself skipping a good number of tracks (after all, more tracks = more of both the good stuff and the average or mediocre stuff), there's some very nice ones amongst the new stuff, too. I haven't finished downloading all of it though (flaky 56K XP), so at the moment I'm unable to tell you if the first volume or the second volume (which are like, almost $30 each ;_;) is the overall better of the two sets.
As for Suikogaiden music, I can't help you there - not for the moment, at least. The place I'm downloading the Suiko2 mp3s does have the Suikogaiden albums as well though, so hopefully I can, eventually.... XD
Anyway, if you want extra opinions, there's reviews at Soundtrack Central for the Suiko1 (http://www.altpop.com/stc/reviews/gsuiko.htm) and Suiko2 (http://www.altpop.com/stc/reviews/gsuiko2ogsc.htm) soundtracks, and GameMusic.com has a reader review option (http://www.gamemusic.com/dept/101/cat.asp?dept=101&cat=1048&uid=9979200207213819&cattitle=Genso+Suikoden) (I don't know how they are nowadays, but years back when I used to buy game CDs more often they had some pretty good service and fast shipping. Was one of the cheapest places to buy back then, too.), which might be of help.
And there's always the old truth of oneself being the best judge. "Try before you buy" and all that jazz. Here I can help you again: This guy's server (http://www.rpgamers.net/Games/MirrorPage.cfm?userid=12) is where I'm currently downloading those mp3s from, and he has like, almost every game soundtrack imaginable. You'll need the Hotline client (http://www.hotspringsinc.com/pages/060down.html) to be able to check it out, and the server is admittedly kinda slow, but it's worth it. (Hoooooo boy, is it worth it... *_*)
Hope this helps! ^_^
